She releases him, stunned, and staggers out the door. It's just another local man, staring down at her in bleary confusion. Wade is watching Jared as Maggie looks at him with dawning recognition and horror. Her feelings crescendo into a feral, protective rage as she snaps up a mop like a trained warrior and uses it to pin the man to the wall by his throat. It's Wade, or at least that's who Maggie sees. Once she's seated, she begins arguing with thin air, and at first, she misses the man that walks in. Maggie surges in, begging for a coffee so she can hide in the corner of the restaurant and come down from a frantic high. It all comes to a head as Jared's working the night shift at his fast food job. Her rarely discussed mental illness seems to be peaking, as Jared's caught her talking to empty rooms in hushed, frantic tones. Wade is not only alive but back in town, and Maggie is distracted by her drug dealer's threats. Her loyalty is turned against her late in the series premiere.
